My Daddy grew up during the Great Depression

as I am sure many of the Misfit's parents did. Dad had a saying from that time:
USE IT UP
WEAR IT OUT
MAKE IT DO
OR DO WITHOUT

Our throw-away society might should learn that .... though watching people these days is sorta like watching turkeys. Grandma always warned me not to watch turkeys too much. She said it would drive you crazy.

EXACTLY!!!

One of the big jokes on me is my "conservative" lifestyle.

Three biggest wastes are disposable, convenient and out doing others.

Heard a preacher sum it up...

"People buy things that they don't need or want. With money they don't have. To impress people they really don't like anyways."

Struck me as true...

Yessir!

and doesn't last when you buy it.

I don't wish to argue the point but I disagree slightly ..

there is a lot of disposable (read "Throw Away") stuff marketed. For most things, if you look around, you can find it.

I was told a long time ago by a close friend named John Taffin that "cheap is too expensive." While price does not always guarantee quality, you can find it.

I was also told that you could never "spend too much on a good gun, a good knife or a good pair of boots" and I believe it.

I believe the gun, knife, boots line for sure!

in cowboy boot country, Nashville Tennessee, I finally got tired of trying and hating every maker of cowboy boots until I bought my first pair of Dan Post boots. Now I have several pair. Great boots. Put them on in the boot store and walk out with them on. No breaking in, no blisters. They are just like wearing house shoes. Or as comfortable as an old pair of sneakers. They are not cheap but when it comes to boots, you get what you pay for.
