Locked-down in Texas

We are under orders to shelter at home and not go out unless it is absolutely necessary. The parks are closed with yellow tape around the playground equipment. Drinking fountains are covered in plastic. Signs telling people to stay home are around them.

But this is Texas. There are wonderful little places along the river if you know the back roads. Near us there is an old cattle crossing used when the Chisholm Trail came through here. Today it was in the 80's and the crossing was THE PLACE to be! People fishing, kids swimming, guys sitting in the shade with a cold beer, picnic baskets ... everyone enjoying the time off. If you can't go to work, make the best of it, right?

Jim, I remember leaving to old YO Ranch

through a back gate at night and parking and shutting off the rented car on the side of the road cause I happened to see a star filled sky that I never get a view of here. Climbed onto to warm engine hood and streched out looking up at all that beautiful Texas night sky... Can`t remember how many shooting stars I saw that evening but its a sight I always carry with me...

I love doing that, though I may be too heavy for the hood.

My wife shipped me to Florida last Wednesday, from the White Mountains of NH. Just to check on things here. Well now I been in the house since then. Like a ghost town here!
Hopefully I get back to NH before Easter. If you ever need to take a road trip, you are always welcome. Pete
