I had Gary build me a 16" Encore pistol barrel. I hope to kill a Cape buffalo with mine. No matter what length you get, get a muzzle brake. I am doing 1800fps with a 530gr bullet. It is a very powerful cartridge with the right load and a strong action.

Will the 1-20 twist work ok with the heavys. And if not can I get a 1-15 or faster to stabilize the bullet. I had a 50 whisper with 1-15 but it should of been 1-12 or 1-10.

Gary I would like to shoot 50 Alaskan with very large Bullets possibly 50bmg bullets. So Stainless Steel 20” with your break. Drilled tapped for scope mount.
That would be neat, Tim!

I have at 3 of Gary’s GNR calibers on the 50Alaskan case. A rifle in any of them would be nice for me but the 50AK is a great idea! Hmmm....
it would be $475 and you would have to play around with

your loads to get one that would work in the different twist. The twist rate for the 50 Alaskan is 1 in 20 whereas the twist rate for the 50 BMG is 1 in 13. That much difference will probably cause you to have a cartridge that is not accurate. Plus in a case that small like the 50 Alaskan case the 50 BMG bullet would be going so slow that you would lose velocity immediately and have a very limited range.
