Anyone really actually casting .22 cal. Air gun pellets? I see mounds, figure you use almost pure lead. I just belly up and buy, but for $10 you only get 250 good pellets. That’s almost as much as rim fire. But that’s a bunch of shooting. If they are available.

I’m really enjoying my Crossman Redtail Nitro piston. Gas piston like a shock on a car, no springs. Different recoil and no sacking. 850 fps+ with 16 gr. and 1.5” groups at 50 yds. Hits to 75 yds. pretty easy. Was less than $100 with scope. Even has built in sound suppressor.

Played with both casting and swaging years ago, .177, 20 and 22 calibers. Swaging made better pellets & bullets. For cost of factory not worth the time it takes. Definitely not worth cost if having dies made or buying molds. You could setup a good reloading press and make dies if you have the skill and equipment. What is the life of those type pellet rifles.

Has anybody hunted deer with pellet rifles? I saw one that was .357 that fired a 125gr pellet at 1200fps.

I've seen some videos of Pigs harvested with pellets.

They have then in even larger calibers

Family sure they were common in other countries as hunting arms, since fire arms are restricted. Even an open market on suppressors for them. But still restricted here.

I'm not sure, only been out a decade I think

They claim they are the best since sliced bread. Carrying them cocked or leaving them so is said not to harm anything. I'll not test that though.

I rebuilt my vintage FWB 124 .177 not too long ago. Found a piston head and barrel seal from Canada. Bought the moly lube and piston sealing tar etc. I kept the factory spring that was rated to only about 700 fps since it shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yds. I get about 680 fps with Meisterkugen pellets. They have a 900 fps spring but I didn't want to hammer the fine old gun nor endure scope issues.

The .177 sure is more economical to shoot, you get 500 for the same as 250 .22 cal.

Only makes sense for 9mm and up...

The cost for good pellets in .177, .22, .25 make it silly yo cast or even swage. However, I have a 9mm Korean airgun and have cast soft lead pellets and balls. Friend has done similar with .45
