either white or black Crappie, when we caught one we would take a needle and punch a small hole in his top fin and with a 6 or 7 foot piece of filamentous line tie a small 2" balloon to it then let him loose. The Crappie always ran in schools so he would get back with his buddies and we would know where the rest were. That way we could catch a bunch of them rather than one or two odd stragglers.
