Barrel bushing
I apologize in advance if the questions here demonstrate exceptional ignorance.
Would it be unwise to build a 1911, which would be first of all reliable, then decently accurate, with no barrel bushing? I wouldn't expect to burn lots of ammo in it perhaps 400 or 500 rds a year. Would such a firearm be easier to field strip? Obviate the need for a tool to strip?
I have other questions, which essentially deal with building a stainless, government model shooter, which would be reliable, durable, and beautiful. I live close to Flagstaff and hope to stop by at a good time, if there is one, but I'm curious if this is a good start point or not a good idea.
Thanks
