the late '90s. Every year the hunters that were invited to the hunt (it was a charity hunt with all the meat going to the needy at Christmas) were allowed a Sika deer buck and 2 does. Kase was there with me as normal and we had been looking for a nice Sika buck and hadn't seen one. The guide said "let's try the dump, for some reason the Sika hang out at the dump". So we drove over there and Kase and the guide sat in the truck while I got out and rested my 378 GNR Encore on the hood of the truck in case we saw anything. A big yellow cat was moving around at the dump looking for rats. I asked the guide how much was the cat. He laughed and said $5. I said thanks and pulled the trigger. The cat's head sorta disappeared. The guide just about shit. He jumped out of the truck and yelled that was Maisies cat (the lady that did all the cooking). He really freaked out. I told him he said it was $5. He was shaking worrying that the lady would kick his butt (she was a big fat lady and could have easily done just that). I asked him if I needed to pay her for the cat. That made him freak out even more. He was yelling "oh God don't tell anyone you shot Maisies cat".We went over to the cat and took some pictures and the guide moved an old stove over the cat so nobody would see it. While he was moving the old stove around I noticed a black cat way off to one side in the different direction. I asked him if Maisie had a black cat. He said no, only the big yellow one. I laid the 378 on the hood and took out the black cat. The guide really shit then as he had his back to me and the shot really sent him off the deep end. He really started shaking then. I told him he said Maisie didn't have a black cat. he said "Yeah but that cat belonged to the Mexican lady that works in the kitchen". He was nervous the rest of the hunt worrying that someone would tell them their cats had run out of all 9 lives. For some reason he didn't show up the next morning so we had to get another guide.
