I know you use a different color of Loc-Tite for different applications. What color is best to apply to the screws on the ejector rod housing and grip frame screws?

I use blue.

Red is torch time and green, well green is forever there.

I use red for everything except the screws on the rings. I

use blue for the rings as they might need to be changed if the scope gets damaged. I never switch my scope bases on my guns and barrels so I always use red for most applications. For my heavy recoiling guns like my 450 GNR and 416 GNR Encores, I mix up a green pea size batch of 2 part epoxy and apply that to the bottom of the scope base and top of the barrel. I don't want to have to worry about it coming loose on a hunt.

Don’t rely on color

Loc-tite makes several hundred different types of thread sealants for many applications. Check the product number for the fastener you are using. If you simply ask for red for a permanent bond, you could end up with hydraulic sealant.

Medium strength blue is 242 or 243. High strength red is 262.

will a solid turn of a screwdriver break the screw loose?
What color would you use for scope mounts?

Blue or red will work for mounts

I have used both and either can be removed with a screwdriver. I have heard some people needing to apply heat to remove the red, but I haven't encountered that. Blue should work fine.

The key is to thoroughly clean the base, screws, and screw holes with a degreaser or alcohol. If you haven't purchased the Loctite, see if you can find the sticks. Much easier to apply without getting it everywhere.

I use clear nail polish and is easier to remove if necessary.
