Time to get a new pocket knife. Tell me what you like (and show everybody). I’m in the market for a new daily knife to carry. Thanks.
I carry a Buck Vantage

It is a 3" frame lock blade. It has a pocket clip and is always my constant companion. I do plan to send it back to Buck because over the years of sharpening the blade is worn down a tad.
In fact I did dress out a doe with it as well as daily stuff.

I carry a Kershaw that I got from Gary. It's engraved with an elk and sharp as any knife I've owned. It holds an edge well. It and my 1911 Rekon Kommander are my constant companions.

I have this old Schrade folder ... carried it for 6 years everyday in Africa. Used it to kill goats and pigs and butcher chickens and warn bandits. I still carry it every day. Trims toe nails and slices SPAM and whatever else needs slicing. It ain't pretty but it works.
![[image]](images/uploaded/202004181337295e9b0299ab282.jpg)
I also have my "Going To Town" knife .. a double action blade. I carried one it Africa a lot and it got me out of trouble several times.

![[image]](images/uploaded/202004181339305e9b031220c59.jpg)
The Schrade is a "working" knife. The other is a "Serious" knife. It ain't as useful for everyday stuff on the ranch.

Love it, tough and good blade shape for opening packages and everyday tasks. Opens great with the thumbhole and around $100. Even gutted a deer with it when nobody else had a sharp enough knife along.

Little bitty thing .. blade shorter than a 30-30 cartridge. Sharper than a razor.
My daughter had forgotten the pack with the knives in it and this was all I had. I was amazed at how well it worked opening up that big deer and cutting through the breastbone.
My wife and I used those SCUBA diving. Sharp!!!

Let's dismiss that analogy first. I personally carry two knives. One to "cut" things, mostly when one hand is occupied. The other is my continual companion for the last 40 yrs. I have evolved to this particular variation. I like the scissor and Phillips screwdriver (only available on a couple models). They make many models to suit about anyone but they can get overly wide too. This one is just right. I chose the luminescent glow-in the dark version that is very handy if you drop it at night. The only tool I have not used is that strange looking hook thing. I have no idea what it is. Perhaps a James Bond escape down a taught wire. I anticipate the opportunity one day. Note: I broke the tip off the big blade, this is easy to do. Use the screw drivers, (3) on there, rather than the blade tip.

I think the Victornox is called the "Super Tinker" which is very fitting for me. The Kershaw ("Fat-Back")was actually purchased for a business trip where I could not take a firearm. The blade is needle pointed for piercing deeply and the straight long edge is easy to sharpen to a razor edge. I mostly cut rope, zip-ties, box tape etc. It clips in my right front pocket and can be instantly flipped open with it's spring assist. I do consider it an alternative defensive weapon. The Swiss is down deep in the left front for fixing something.

I'd feel vulnerable and naked without at least one on me. What's good for me may not be best for you.

with the ELMAX steel and made in the USA. It is the Rexford Design. Holds an edge and is really tough. You can find them (maybe) on EBay or perhaps the factory may have overflow. I don't think that they make this model anymore but there is one like it that has a Carbon Matrix handle that is light weight and the semi clip point is the same as mine.
Hope this works, otherwise, you may

I bought a couple cuz I usually wear them out in a year and we used to live near the kershaw factory and could get them cheap. I have had one for 4 years now and its still going strong. Fits small in the pocket, good grip even for large hands and it has a beer bottle opener.

worth a damn. The blade is stainless steel, the good Jap steel but extremely hard to sharpen. The only reason I carry it is that it is the only right hand knife I have found. Most knives have the clip on the wrong side so if I pull it out of my pocket I have to fumble with it to get it turned over or turned around to get to the knob to open it. And if I need my knife that usually means my other hand is busy holding something. The Cold Steel has the knob under my thumb on my right hand when I pull it out. It is a shit knife and won't even cut a cardboard box open. I am not really sure why I carry it as due to being so damn dull it is mostly useless. If I could find another knife that is a true right hand knife I would switch in a minute. I have tried probably 100 knives at various gun shows and have yet to find one where the opening knob is exactly under my thumb without moving the knife around or over or switching ends or anything.

G-10 scales, titanium frame. Belt clip. I have a couple of them don’t go anywhere with out it. I use it in the kitchen, at work, bone out meat. Slice fruit at lunch. With a hard Arkansas Stone it will get shave sharp in a a couple of minutes. I sharpen it about once a week witch is pretty good cause I cut boxes and tie straps and hoses at work with it. ![[image]](images/uploaded/202004182032315e9b63df3c026.jpg)

Top Benchmade I have carried for 17 years best $30 bucks I ever spent, sent back one time for the lifetime sharpen/tip was broke off. A little pricier these days.
Bottom one cheap one I carry at work in the field, in case i lose it, cheap enough to replace holds a decent edge for cutting plastic and banding as well orings and just prying stuff out. Wouldn't try to shave with it.
