Reeder Custom Guns - a new Howdah just finished for Bret Van Fleet

this Howdah was built on our stretch frame and is chambered in 500 S&W. It has a 5" barrel and has the interchangeable blade front sight with the gold bead blade. It is high polished all over with the deluxe Black Chromex finish and has the normal gold bands on the cylinder. It has the Bisley Gunfighter grip with the Ivory Max grips made and fit to it. It has the Belt Mountain base pin for a tighter lock up. It has Bret's initials as the serial number. A very impressive Howdah.

I will have to look and see. The first number that came up on the Howdah page was 59 so that went on Bret's Howdah.

original Howdah pistol was a large caliber single barrel or double barreled handgun to keep Tigers off of the hunter who was in a large basket atop an elephant in India. The basket was also called a Howdah. The Tiger would get slightly pissed at the hunter shooting at him so he often would jump up on the elephant's back to get at the hunter. The Howdah pistol was to keep the Tiger from chewing on the hunter.
