Cartridges for the G2 contender? Gnr or standard cartridge.
I was wondering the same thing Gary?

I killed 15 animals in Africa with my 378 GNR, most with one shot kills.
Not Gary but my guess is any on the 405 case

The 378 GNR was developed for the original contender

I shoot the 366GNR in the G2 both as a pistol and in a carbine using listed data with no issues. I did start low and worked up as I would with any gun. And the same loads in the G2 where the best overall loads I had been shooting in the Encore. Witch is one grain below max.

Thanks for your post Blake. I'm curious as to whether you focus on lower end weight bullets or the reverse and go with the heavies?
not Blake but the lighter weight bullets will post

Great accuracy and good velocity. I find the 232 grain are best in the 361 Falcon
I agree with Blake on the Accubond bullets. I try

to use them in every caliber I shoot if they are available. I have used them on several African safaris and if I did my part one shot was all that was needed. My 378 GNR is extremely accurate with them and is the caliber Kase and I use the most.
there is no way to answer that. If I tell you something

like our 30 GNR is safe and you run it way past max and blow the gun up or run the wrong powder in there and blow it up, then I am at fault. The person shooting the G-2 or loading for the G-2 has to decide for himself what is safe. I would recommend never shooting a high pressure round like the 454 in there nor would I recommend any of the 50 caliber rounds as the chamber walls are very thin with that cartridge. But that statement can come back and bite me in the ass as I have chambered a lot of Contenders in 50-70. Some of my personal cartridges are probably not good ideas to shoot in a G-2, like the 476 GNR, based on the 50 Alaskan, but on the same note my 416 GNR and 450 GNR, bases on the 50 Alaskan work fine in the Contender and they were actually developed for the Contender as there were no Encores or G-2 around in 1990. All of my cartridges based on the 405 case are fairly high pressure cartridges but they were all developed in the Contender years before the Encore. So there are no cartridges that are mine that I would say absolutely don't shoot in the G-2. And I would be a hypocrite if I did as I have some of my personal cartridges chambered in my G-2s that I would never chamber for a customer as I have control over the loads in my barrels.
In factory ammo, for sure stay away from any of the belted magnums or even any of the non belted magnums like the 416 Rigby or Ultra Magnums or WSMs. TC chambers some of these in the Encore but for sure not the G-2.
So if you are not sure of the safety of a cartridge in your G-2, don't do it. Look at TC's list of cartridges they chamber in the G-2 and if you have questions ask on here. Somebody will know the answer.

be shot in Encores but that is a recommendation only. When we did the pressure testing some of the pressures were fairly high and there was no G-2 back then, so the choices were the original Contender or the Encore and obviously I went for the Encore. Since the G-2 came out a lot of those recommendations are just that, only recommendations. I don't have control over what they do.
