can outwit a human.
I hunted two spots this AM. One a section of woods next to a posted farm. Where I sit there is an old road and a pile of rocks. If the birds cross the stone wall then I can lawfully take them. Well I saw one hen run for her life towards me but up the hill towards some houses. So much for that. Also it was 32 F and a thick fog. I could see the bird about fifty yards out but that was it. No activity.
The next spot I went to my cousins farm and spotted two hens and a nice long beard. They are in a bowl near my cousin's pond. Nice to have binoculars.
So I recon around the pond and get on the back side of them in a thick white pine grove. I can see the birds playing around and ignoring my ever loving calls. Apparently they weren't too everloving.
The birds sauntered off across the road out of my reach. So that was it. I chatted with mu cousin. He said the birds are skittish because yesterday someone shot three in the upper field.
My plan of attack in the rain tomorrow is to set up a blind and sit with waterproof gear on. I will not call. I will kind of hunt them like deer from a blind.
