I'm writing for opinions on 338GNR bullets (and loads) for elk in an Encore. I have Hornady 225gr. SST and Nosler 200gr. AccuBonds on hand and would probably lean towards them, but I'm also open to other bullets. Any thoughts?

most folks go for point of shoulder shots on bull elk

and in that case you would want the heavier bullet to break down the shoulder bone, putting the elk on the ground. The heavier would be the Accubond 250 grain bullet.
BUT I would let the gun decide. Try a couple of different bullets and see which one your gun shoots best. Accuracy kills so go with the most accurate load.

Thanks, Gary.

Do you have any loads for 250s? My reloading manual (the red covered edition) only goes up to 225s.

Hey Joe Nosler makes a 250gr .338 Accubond

Take a look a Woodleigh Bullets I have had great luck with them.

The Nosler Partition 225 and 250gr are great bullets also.
