Forgot how much fun you can have shooting in the living room or down the hall! Had also forgotten how much concentration it takes to shoot something that small, light, with micro-sights. Once remastered (especially the trigger-pull), it is truly amazing what can be done! Redefines concentration for the tiniest inattention yields massive flyers...
We shoot Airsoft and BB Guns a lot.

I have some nice pellet rifles too. I've played with pellet handguns but have not really found my groove with them.
In our front yard are sweetgum trees with the Gum-balls. It's too easy to hit the balls hanging so then we shoot them off the tree by hitting the little stem. We also shoot those big wood bees in the air. At the pond it's great sport to shoot dragonflies from the air with a Daisy. The fish come up and "bloop" eat the ones you knock in the water.
It's great fun.
My NAA guns seemed to tumble bullets, not hit point on. I never had the .22 Short model but have always wanted one.
I know some of the Misfits tinker with airguns

I've been eyeballing this one a bit. It looks fun. .30 cal. with 45 gr. pellets at 550 fps! Gas piston so just cock the barrel and go.

Gas piston “Red tail”. That was inexpensive and hits hard! The FWB spring piston is an older Beeman import and runs around 700 fps. But it will stack them on a dime at 50 yds. with no wind! I just tuned it with a new piston head sourced from Canada. Lube and tar to specs. I was scared I would mess up the accuracy with the 900 fps spring.
I’ve been wanting to try the .25 and just found the .30 cal. barrel cocker!

I have an RWS Model 48 .177 caliber side cocking springer rifle. It destroys scopes rather quickly from the recoil. I have used 2 different scopes advertised as suitable for springer style air guns to no avail. I have never been thrilled with this guns accuracy or handling characteristics. It’s very clunky and heavy. Springers require a death grip to shoot accurately and do not do well shooting from a bench with a light grip. To be honest I have more fun with my ancient peep sighted Benjamin.rifle.
You are right, your's is very unforgiving!

That is a serious powerful spring piston gun. Peep sights are really good on that one. It should shoot well to 50-60 yds. for sure!
You have to keep on hold till the pellet is out of the barrel. Not like a normal firearm, it's sort of like shooting a flintlock. Only you don't catch your beard on fire.
Have you tried the very heaviest pellets? You might be going supersonic and that makes it go crazy.

Yes I have tried several different brands, types and weight of pellets in my RWS 48. To be honest, cocking my rifle for much more than 50 shots has me pooped out with using the side lever.
A friend has a PCP Benjamin Discovery that can be refilled with compressed air or charged with a pump. It really shoots smoothly and quietly. It has very nice accuracy too.
I may look at a Benjamin Marauder sometime. They are a pretty nice air rifle with a decent amount of power. The downside is that you really feel like you’ve been in a rodeo after pumping one up.

That reminds me of when I was a kid my dad would shoot
dragonflies out of the air with a slingshot.
It looked like magic to me as a small boy.
Lol good on your daddy! That’s great!
