Can only think of one fun/new piece that matches your specs without being $$$$$ -- that's Rock Island's 22TCM. And you can't make valid determinations 'til you take it to the range for an hour. Literature is one thing, its a whole other thing in your hand. Affordable on a working man's wage, a good carry piece, ultra-low recoil yielding damn near instant recovery and the trajectory is stretched-string-flat! Colt Commander size (or full Gov't if you prefer) makes it eminently packable. And 17 rounds on tap yields quite the tour-de-force.
