I was at a neighbor's yesterday afternoon and we saw a skunk walking across his pasture at about 75 yards. Since his dog had gotten skunked a little earlier in the day my neighbor was still mad at skunks in general. The only rifle I had at hand was my 45-70 Marlin loaded up with a stout charge of 3031 behind a 400 grain cast bullet. I shot the skunk as it was walking directly away from us. It pretty much hollowed that skunk out from end to end. So if anybody asks you if a 45-70 is a good skunk gun the answer is yes.

LOL! Reminds me of a little cousin...

Went to visit a cousin in Colorado years ago. Walked in the house and his little year old son runs up and just excited as can be keeps hollering “unk boom, unk boom”! Just a few minutes earlier his dad had shot a skunk in the pasture out his bathroom window with a .300 Win Mag!

As they used to say in Sports Afield

in Gary's first book he told about when he shot a skunk and the toxic cloud blew down on him and his gear. Murphy won that day.

NICE
