Most of the guys that go to the HHC

know that I am a knife freak! LOL.... I have 10 (I think it may be more) buck knives. I love the 110 for just about anything in an all round knife. I carried one of them on board ship in the early 70's and still have it. Sharp as a razor. I also have Randall's, Halston, GNR Predator, and other custom knives. The problem with Buck knives is the steel. It is not 440C like some people think, it is 420HC. That is a stainless surgical steel that when tempered properly gives a razor edge and a very durable blade. The drawback is that they require frequent resharpening more often that other steels. Buck is also using 154CM (I don't know if it is CPM154CM or not) and S30V which is a newer steel. The other steels in use by various manufacturers are not really the best steels because they are optimized for mass production and not a durable, tough edge holding blade. I really like the Predator blade for skinning. L6 is not stainless so it has to be cleaned well after use and will develop a patina of its own over time. Use Renaissance wax at the end of the season (again clean the knife and get under the hand guard at the ricasso) of any blood and it will last your lifetime and your kids as well. JMHO in the for what its worth department.
