These are $10 at harbor freight and seem to work pretty well, good range and simple. Be forewarned it takes about $10 worth of batteries to run it but they last a god while too. The small head sensor goes outside and has a wide span of sensing movement. It then simply dings the buzzer inside to alert of of movement. Simple, and there should be no movement at 3 am etc. FWIW We use them on the farm. One in front one in back covers good area and the position of the dingers let us know which area.
