in yesterday and by closing time they were all gone. As far as what you should get, if you have heard the term "Mil Specs" that means the AR is made to military specs, in other words they are all the same. There are only 4 companies in the U.S. that forge the uppers and lowers and there is a little mark on the upper to tell which one. Gene Stoner, when he developed the AR he did so that parts could be interchanged gun for gun and a messed up gun could be fixed and got back to the soldier pronto. They are designed to drop in most internal parts. Other than one that is titty pink or camo or blaze orange or baby shit brown or whatever, they are all the same. We build custom ARs so we are in them every day all day long and contrary to what a lot of companies say, all standard AR-15s are all the same. I have 7 of them, all different makes and parts interchange between all of them. So if you pay more than $800 for one you are getting screwed. The $500 guns are long gone, as are the $600 and most of the $700 guns. We sold the S&W top of the line guns (which are the same as any standard AR-15 guns except for the logo on the side of the gun) for $720.
So if you find a gun you like, grab it. And forget trying to build one yourself. Unless you are a semi gunsmith and have a garage full of tools, forget building one. We have 3 in here right now that guys tried to build and screwed up the internals trying to do what the videos on line showed them. So don't bet your life on something that might work.
As all this crap goes on and things get hairier the price on an AR is just going to go up. So get what you can while you can.
