Could someone please tell me the difference between 7.92x57 and 8mm Mauser, and would you pick the m48 Yugo , or m24/47 yugo?these rifles would be to hunt, and overall just a shooter.
Same cartridge in reality...

The old Commission Mausers had a .318" groove barrel while the later (after 1905, I think?) had the now standard .323" groove.
Both rifles you mentioned are excellent choices and easily sporterized.
I have several cherished sporterized rifles

There is a lot of pleasure in the pursuit. But economy is not in those cards! For the pleasure go for it. To end up with a great shooting gun just go buy one. It could save you thousands. A trick I do for Sporterization is buy used with some of the work already done. Welded an bent bolt, new low safety installed, stock work etc. Rebarreling or reboreing and a blue job alone will run around $1000. And it’s quickly becoming a challenge to find Smiths’ that want to do that kind of work. Many have died off with the skills and from a business angle it’s lots easier to make money bolting things together rather than machining or hand fitting.
It’s fun, satisfying, but not cheap. Enjoying the old beater guns for what they are is my highest recommendation. My old Turkish 98 has a pretty worn bore but pie plate groups at 100 yds. is fine for what I use it. The history that goes boom is what it’s all about.
I need to find someone great at bedding barrels...

I came by a wonderful M98 in 9.3x57mm. I put it in a nice stock, but a section of the barrel needs bedding to look right.
Has the diamond butterknife bolt handle, etc.
Just the kind of gun we both appreciate.
GOTTA LEARN TO READ CAREFULLY. I READ

(when used skillfully) be color matched to grain and produced bedding far beyond all the the very best barrel bedding masters. Obviously it is a perfect impression negative. The release agent is one of those "better too much than too little" for sure. I have done some things with it that really made me look better than I am.
For micro free float you can wrap the parts with paper or aluminum sheet and it leaves a gap just that thick. But you have to slather it too in release agent. I have literally glued rifle stocks broken in half back together with it.
