About masks and social distancing

(with apologies to Apostle Paul)

Now concerning wearing masks and social distancing, we know that we all have knowledge. However, knowledge can make a person arrogant. But when we operate in love it encourages and strengthens others.

We know there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. And we know that the name of Jesus is above every other name, including COVID 19!

But not everyone possesses this knowledge! Some are so accustomed to listening to the news that they cannot see the name of Jesus as anything but a nice thing to believe in, and they feel safer trusting social distancing and masks. While we may know that masks and social distancing really does not help overall, please be careful to not damage a relationship by becoming unkind and unloving with our knowledge.

If someone feels safer or more comfortable wearing a mask and practicing social distancing, honor their choice. As those who trust in Jesus we should practice His kind of love with those who do not understand the same way we do.

For those who are under medical care and have been told to use masks and social distancing, honor those who are looking after you.

And let us all be slow to judge another person by what we see. Most times we really do not know what is going on in their life.

Amen

It’s not that mask don’t help, but they don’t protect the wearer. The mask helps protects you from the person wearing the mask.

Nor does it apply if you are one of those “special” social equality aware folks. They get a pass.

In some areas in AR even. You “cannot sell or buy without the mark”, actually wearing a face covering. The dominant bank president in our town says he’s keeping the lobby closed as long as this mask stuff is going on. FDIC not 2-3 yrs. ago mandated signage that they would refuse service to anyone wearing a hat or sunglasses that obscured identification. I have not read it lately, it may say no entry. Go figure.

As a boy my Pop taught me to hold the door for others, especially ladies and folks who could use the extra help or have earned the respect. Another thing he taught me was giving the next person in line a little space. No need to crowd them. That doesn’t help anyone. Also, as a man it could be intimidating to a lady. If you make eye contact, a smile and a “hello Miss or Mam” and a smile is appropriate. If you are somewhere and a crowd or line is getting congested be the stubborn mule that makes room for the fairer sex. It may go unnoticed but it is the right thing to do.

Not exactly on topic but close maybe.

Amen!
