Going to build some base plates for some reloading presses..

Benches are built from 2 3/4" Cypress and pretty sturdy. But, sizing down jacketed bullets made me consider making the setup stronger.

Got some 3/4" aluminum plates to machine to fit the footprint of each press. Probably overkill, but have to be doing something...

Wouldn't it be better to extend the footprint?

To the plate. Mainly the rounded contour that sits on the edge of the bench. But, the plates will stay the same size. Both these will more than double the actual contact area. I'll also add bolts to the four corners of the plate.

I knew I'd screw that up! LOL!

have been using the lee classic cast press seem to be holding up, even when swaging 10mm bullets out of 9mm brass, the one I use for this had the leverage enhanced by the guy that makes my dies.

That should be sturdy!
