I've tried several different .41 Mag shotshell types
Saturday, November 26, 2016, 09:57 *With edited notations.

Originally I just used normal brass and paper wads with wax over the top to hold the payload under recoil. Killed a few snakes but they lacked capacity. CCI never made any capsules in .41. On the way to load some .357 I was diverted.
A .30-30 in the .41 cylinder. I had some brass that needed other uses.

*Old blow out brass was some brittle 7mm Water's reloads I tried to fire in a 7mm GNR to form. I'm often ridiculed but I seldom throw away brass and pick up all no one else wants for such an experiment. They make fine .300 GNR cases too. Why throw away a quarter? Wouldn't you kick it up on the sidewalk?

I cut flush to cyl. but .30-30 is thick! I tried a case full of AA#7 but there is just not enough capacity. A stiff load of Unique is getting me on the way. I tried a couple fireforming with #5 shot at 12'. I'm confident it will work, maybe capping off with a card wad crimped or a tapped in .40/.41 gas check. The same pattern FL .45 Colt did great on the .444 Marlin brass.

*The individual pellets can reach 1500 fps! Energy changes dramatically with pellet size and weight. .375 round balls (Duplex loads) are quite formidable. #9 shot is about petered out at 50-60 yds., I've been shot with it a lot dove hunting. The larger pellets however can remain lethal or serious wounding out to 75 yds. or more. I killed a big old Red Fox Squirrel with my Grandfathers old Savage 16ga. auto at around 75 yds. He was sitting on a branch squawking at us and I peeled him right off. The purple hull High brass Federal #4 delivered a single pellet that I noted, right behind one eye. DRT. FWIW.
