the best, pure and simple, and you pay for the best. Buying one of Hamilton's guns is like buying a Rolex. Something special to be proud of. Like one of you said below, if I build a very special one of a kind gun, it will be shot, sighted in and ready to hunt with. And if it is mine, I will hunt with it. I have had quite a few guys tell me they bought one of our Ultimate Black Widows years ago and it has been sitting in a safe to be brought out to show a friend. That is fine. If you buy a special gun to show off and be proud of I am proud to make it for you. But I can't do that.
Years ago Lee Jurras sent me serial number 7 and serial #9 Auto Mags and I hunted with them all over the world because that is what Lee sent them to me for. Both of my Auto Mags and a few after that I full engraved, absolutely ruining any collector's value. But unless the gun was custom made for some historical person then if I have it, it will probably be shot and hunted with. Or if it was a very rare gun owned by a historical person, I will probably sell it and buy a couple of hunting guns.
And that fellow with Hamilton's gun is wrong. The gun has been shot and the cylinder turned. No custom gun maker would sell a gun he hasn't shot and made sure it was OK.
