Replacing the springs in a WW2 era M1 Carbine. Last week I ordered a spring kit made by Wolff springs. I watched YouTube and studied some diagrams. Finally I have it done

The biggest headache was the re-assembly of the bolt. I bet that took me a solid two hours to finally get it back to working condition.

Now. Off to the range where I will run some 30 Carbine ammo through it.

This gun has an interesting history.

It was used by my fathers uncle who was stationed in Germany just after the end of WW2. He was a head cook and would use that gun to shoot roe deer on the runway of the base he worked at. The men in uniform loved his meals. I guess it had something to do with the roe deer in them.

Anyways. After that time period my Dad obtained it and when he met Mom she did some deer hunting in New Hampshire with that M1 Carbine.

So. I am taking it out this afternoon after I had some failures last week. I did some research and new springs are in order.

Sooo. We'll see how that works out today.

Anyways. All take care. I will have to report back tonight.

Cool, looking forward to the report

When I was young my dad bought a little carbine it he. A couple of magazines a huge sack of ammo and a bush elk scope. I gave my sister’s boyfriend $75 for the bunch. It was in fairly crappy shape but he used it to shoot deer a few times successfully. I remember the magazines fit very loosely and he would wedge it with a bras piece he smashed just right.

I think that one would make a very handy home defense gun or chicken coop protector!

It worked great.

I had one issue. One bad magazine with a bent lip. Outside of that one magazine,it worked great. I may get a picatinny upper hand guard and put a red dot on it.
