don't like the cheapness of the way they are made ... lots of things I don't care for about them ... BUT .. I picked up a Kahr CW 45 the other week for about nothing. The person selling it needed money .. it's a long story. Anyway .. the gun sat in a safe for several years, in some kind of gun storage bag .. was never cleaned .. and rusted to the bag.
This is what it looked like when I picked it up.
I killed the rust with penetrating oil and bronze wool.

Been polishing on it in the evenings. It's coming along.
![[image]](images/uploaded/202007070208195f03d9132ebe1.jpg)
The thing functions just fine. Only problem I ran into was it would not chamber .452" bullets. I mic'd the barrel and the bore is .450" ...
So I sized some of my cast bullets down to .450" and will load them soon and see how it does.
Shooting offhand at 15 yards it was easy to keep all the shots together.
It is a no frills gun ... long smooth trigger pull ..feels like you cock the striker all the way. But all I have into it is a little cash and some sweat.
My first plastic pistol.
Coming along pretty good!

mechanism that the internal frame trigger bar rotates counter-clockwise as the trigger is pulled to move or cock the striker in a long two stage manner. However it is designed to never stack or have a gap, perfectly staged to give a striker cock and drop in a deceiving smooth feeling long single stage, that is really two. A relay of sorts.
The South Koreans are a pretty smart bunch. I hear their cars are doing really good as well. As I said I'm not a diehard Kahr nut but I do admire the innovative design and engineering.

prefer my Ruger 45 Colt for self defense. One shot and the problem is over. Been shooting single actions since 1970, love em.Have 3 semi automatics, LAR Grizzliy and 2 full size gov. models.
In semi-autos I prefer the 1911 ...

Love the Star PD ... I used to carry a singleaction .45 Colt or .357 Magnum but as I've gotten into my middle 70's my thumbs don't work like they used to and I cannot shoot as quickly with the sixgun as I did when I was younger.
SIGH
But the old 1911 works and I am used to it.
That's a Moonie gun! lol

The CW line is a less expensive line of Kahr. Actually better for casual loading too. The barrel is conventional cut rifling and the slide release is a MIM part. They cheaped out a little on the sights too but otherwise it's the same as their overpriced models. You can't go wrong for the paltry money.
Does it chamber factory ball? I've never had a Kahr .45. You might contact them about it. Worth the effort. It might be the throating?
The fancy P45 models have dovetail sights, a little different slide machining, milled slide release lever, and Walther-Lothair Polygonal bore barrel. They also come with an extra mag that the CW does not.
That long smooth pull is due to the cam action of the striker pull, as one travel lever loses mechanical leverage another takes over to finish the pull. It feels like one smooth pull, but it is actually two stages. I find them quite accurate. I own a P380, PM9, and P40. My P40 is the same size as a Colt M1903 .32 Auto but has 3X the power and is several ounces lighter at 16 oz., it's amazing. I'm not a dyed in the wool fan, they were a deal, light and small. I can hit with them. The one to watch out for is the PM40. I personally think it is simply too much power for the small package. They originally had mags coming apart in recoil but I think they may have that sorted. You can often find them about 1/3 of retail as they kick like the devil. Usually Kahr have horrible resale value, better just to keep them around for a rainy day.
An interesting read, anti-gun flavored but

mostly factual and interesting if only by accident. It was written to appall, but is a testimony to the success of the good old Yankee capitalism. Of late I thought I read the young son is quite the enthusiast and really enjoys the firearm industry. Maybe he simply talked daddy into supporting his hobby as long as it was profitable. He's done well.

in a church service. They are definitely not anti gun. And they are not racist as many Asians are as I see some whites, blacks and plenty of Asians there. Wow, neat. And they own several gun companies.
yeah, AR-15s in church but I can't complain. They are ready

others who didn't keep them but also didn't have sound reasons to report, just fickle guys who tried them and went on. That's unsatisfying to me, I want feed-back.
I did read from several credible sources that they will function with many 1911 magazines. That makes sense in design. The .40 recoil is really sharp. I'd bet the .45 is more manageable. My 180-200 gr. .40 loads run right at 1000-1050 fps. I like the .40 Kahr comparing the 16 oz. 6/7shot wonder to a 1873 Colt in .38-40. What would they think?!
To recommend one though, I'd suggest a 9mm or maybe a .45 like yours if they wanted a max. bore bruiser.
Recoil does not seem heavy ...

I shoot .45 ACP's a lot so maybe that helps. But the barrel is lower to the grip than the 1911 ..feeds almost straight into the chamber from the magazine. Not quite straight but close.
I was shoot 230 gr. hardball with 6.5 gr. Unique .. not a wimpy load by any means. Felt very comfortable.
Must be the chamber pressures.

We were shooting a CW40 alongside a XD tiny .45 and hands down the XD was much more comfortable to shoot. A strong push where the .40 was hand stinging. We later shot the PM9 and S&W Shield 9 alongside each other. The PM 9 is not much bigger than most .380's but is a real Goldilocks rig, accurate and controllable for such a tiny gun. The S&W is more comfortable and easier to shoot but lots bigger too. Ditto for the Glocks and SIG 365. All great firearms.
The polymer gives, soaks up some if the recoil.

No. Not on this one anyway.

Did I figure on today's mentality. I own a few Glocks, but never into defense guns.
But, 2020 has changed me. I figure it's changed a lot of other folks by looking at the shelves and showcases in gun shops.
By time you get that little gun cleaned up it'll be a great little packing pistol
When I was younger I was a bit emotionally attached

To my personal firearms. Like pets, I liked them. It’s interesting to now have some I consider simple tools. Like a Wal-mart fiberglass handle framing hammer. It’s not a 42 oz. Eastwing with leather handle, but who gives a rats rear end?! It works!
