A friend of mine was "behind the lines"

in a country in Africa that is antagonistic to christianity. The people there have been attacked and killed and there is constant danger.

In the church all the men had their bibles on top of their AK47's that were across their knees.

My friend was taking some photos and he told the pastor, "I cannot show these photos to a lot of churches in west." When the pastor asked why not, he said it was because of all the armed men.

The pastor wanted to know what the men did with their rifles and he told him that in the west men don't carry their rifles to church.

The pastor said, "Don't they want to defend their families? How can they be christians?"

My friend had no answer for him.

Outside the church was a slit trench for taking shelter when the planes come to strafe the church building.

Life is different there.
