My home is my bug out!

Good post below Huey! When we moved in our home over 20 years ago, we were in fact in bug out mode! We had spent the first few years of our marriage renting in various cities and got the opportunity to buy my maternal grandmothers home were my mother was born and raised. We are 14 miles to the closest store. We have few neighbors all of which are family even if not by blood. It is located an a sometimes poorly maintained gravel road that you wouldn’t want to travel everyday in your new Cadillac. And it is all ours, finally paid for, all 36 acres of heaven.

When you turn into my driveway, there is a line where it connects with the parish road. You will not see it no matter how hard you look but you better damn well know it’s there. That is where Dee and I have drawn Our Line.

My wife one met a gentleman in our yard whom had not announced himself. She Had a nice double barrel little stubby 20ga in her hands. It turned out to be a misunderstanding and only his pride was hurt but I bet he knocks on doors now when he enters a persons property. He told a lot of people about it and word got around fast. It bothered my wife for a while that folks thought she was a crazy B with a shotgun! I think it is good deterrent!
