I'm seeing recommendations for a multi-tool with your BUG-out bag, so what's a good and inexpensive tool??

and I have a couple. I find them more robust for rugged use. The original Leatherman is a finely crafted little work of art. Not as robust but equally useful and generally lots more compact. There is room in your kit for both. I have a Leatherman that is some 30 yrs. old and still like new.
Sometimes there is no substitute for the correct tool, BUT I am the worst for making do with something like a multi-tool. A Victornox Tinker or Super Tinker is tops too for a pocket knife with lots of versatility.
I have an old Shrade I keep handy (pic)

It has all I've ever needed and has been used many times over, made with tough steel, nothing broken or loose after over 20 years. Also has 3 Phillips bits, 3 Slot bits, 3 Allen bits with 1/8" drive adapter.
