The new to me 48-7 looks and shoots better than me.

One thing I didn't expect is that the Hornady self defense ammo will sometimes explode a small watermelon out of the 6 inch barrel.

My Reeder 22 Mag Bearcat loves the Hornady Critical Defense

Ammo. I've killed a lot of racoons, possums, armadillos, etc with it.

Beautiful gun you snagged there too. Great shooting...

I've only tested on watermelons, but the cci +v,

Hornady FTX, and Armscor all seem to just zip right through (impressive muzzle blast with the hot Hornady though!) with no expansion. If I can find some Gold Dots I'll try them if melons are still available...So I think I'll use the critical defense for varmint control and whatever's cheapest for target use. As far as the target goes? That's pretty good for me, 50 ft offhand single action with a two handed hold. I usually shoot steel targets outdoors but today thought I'd check it on paper real quick.
