The Contender G1 and G2 both have two firing pins already in the frame. Encore was conceived as centerfire only. Over the years they had a few different hammer systems with a button or screwdriver manipulated face to activate the particular rim fire or center fire firing pin. The G2 is great as the late mechanism has a pivoting dial for center fire, middle = safe position, and rim fire.
My favorite feature of the G2 is the internal safety NOT being tripped by touching the trigger. The old G1 if you bumped the trigger it uncocked the safety and you had to break open the action to reset. It was a bother some times at a critical moment. You quickly learned to respect that trigger!
Anyway you go that barrel can be fitted and work on whatever you choose.
