It will help with the sharper recoil of the .40 in a smaller rig. It’s not going to eat you up anyway. Parts etc. and support are tough. If you like it and want it why not. These days it shows the value of having various caliber firearms to exploit ammo availability. When 9 or .22 gets scarce swap to .40/.45, whatever.
I’m personally limiting my target work to truly productive and enjoyable, brief sessions. At least for the next several months. Packing a couple handguns and usually a carbine wherever I travel. Be prepared.
here is the Mega Star. It came in 10mm and 45. Kase

The Ultra Star came in 9mm and had a nylon frame and was considerably lighter.

You will have to scrounge for parts, should the need arise. I sold a 45 Firestar once, that sale I regret to this day, but darn good little guns.
parts are readily available.

I figured parts would soon be spotty.
the parts that might be spotty would be the Mega Star as it

was only out for a year or so before Star went under. Next would be the Ultra Star, but parts for the Firestar should be fairly common. The thing is I can't think of any part you might need. The Firestars and Mega Star were built like a tank. Every part in them was over built and strong.
Had a couple of fortys, good but heavy

rated for quality and reliability. Back in the late 80s and early 90s there was very little talk of concealed carry so a lightweight gun was not sought after. The Firestar, Firestar Ultra and Mega Star were all heavy guns but kept the recoil down due to the weight. Parts are no problem these days. And why would one worry about support? Support is for cry babies to call and whine about a problem with their gun that does not exist. The Firestar is a fine pistol. Buy it.
also Interarms was just the distributor. Star made the gun.

Pythons and I guess if you have the scratch then have at it. I don't really believe it is a good investment as far as making money down the road. $5000 is what I would consider the top end for the older Pythons, even the snubbie models. But I have been wrong quite a few times in the past and could easily be wrong this time too. Just not my bowl of chitlins.
I have a 69. I really love it!
