have a lady friend that wishes to carry for protection. Has a hard time with a slide. What are y’alls thoughts on small revolvers and calibers. Experience and recommendations appreciated.

I like the Taurus and Rugers myself...

Some of Taurus Revolvers are unbelievably well built. I passed on a 38 Special recently and regret it.

Ditto on the Ruger SP-101s. Very well made guns.

so I let her have my Colt Cobra and a few boxes of ammo... Light, easy to operate and six shots.... the lock up is as tight as the day it was made....

I agree, I might even tip a little toward Taurus

for the value. Taurus has a really nice line of 8-shot .22 WMR snubbies out now. Might be worth a look. I never have warmed to Charter. I refuse to look at Colt, I've been brooding for 20 yrs.

The SP101 is fine for a house gun, it's a chunk in a purse, I'd bet. The old K-frame would be even better for a dedicated car or home. But a small frame would be more versatile. I'd love to try one of those prissy Kimbers but $$$.

For my money Taurus fills the bill, and I like a hammer I can cock too. .357/.38, .32, .22 hard to go wrong.

Hard to go wrong with most

I have a Charter Arms and Colt Cobra, i like the Colt My wife prefers the Charter Arms. We have had the S&W J frame, and a couple of the Taurus small revolvers in the past, nothing really wrong with any of them. The 5 shots are a bit smaller. The Charter Arms and Colt are 6 shot, and still small. Speed loaders are available for all of them.

As has been said many times, take her

to your LGS and handle each make available. Loading, unloading, DA/SA, feel, etc. If used or on consignment, let her shoot the one that feels best. She'll know...my wife preferred the S&W's. Just my $.02

I agree. I would try to stay with the S&W,

Charter Arms, or 6 shot Taurus. I would stay away from the SP-101 or Kimber. Good guns but too heavy for purse carry.

I really like the triggers on the Ruger LCR’s
