Spent time on the 50 yard line this morning. The rifle is working good. I got to looking at the ejector and figured if I gave it a little more travel and increased the spring tension it would help the ejection.

I did the "cut and try" method, not wanting to take too much off, and after a number of tries it is working just fine.

I shot mainly the Speer 170 gr. bullet with a couple different powder charges.

And I tried the AK47 bullet ...

The gun ran fine .. no issues. I think I will need to take this one hunting.

Nice shoot'n Tex. Deffinetely a shooter

All fun, no frets, no big investment so gains are exceptionally sweet. I liked the tight group with the cast bullets.

I’m torn between the classic fast powder slower speed loads granddaddy used vs my slow powder hi-speed painted gas check loads that surpass factory fodder. Maybe there is room for both!

Sorry ... was not a cast bullet ..

it is the little pointy AK47 bullet ... I have yet to shoot any cast in it but I expect them to do well.

Oh, my bad. I bet a cast with same charge would do well.

I’ve blistered AK bullets out of a .30-30 at close to 2500 fps. I did re-size them to .309”.

They are sized by the time they move .100" ...

I will fire up the lead pot a little later in the year. The RCBS 190 gr. GCFP has always been accurate.

I find that often true .308 vs .311 bullets

at less than maximum loads. Maybe it's something to do with the throating being more tightly engaged and aligning the bullet better? I think the .311 may even shoot a little better in many instances. They sure do in .32 ACP! I have a .327 Federal Encore tube that I shoot .32 ACP in some. The 71 gr. FMJ are a bit wild grouping while my larger diameter cast handloads shoot into the same hole. I think the barrel is .308", but it likes what it likes. Maybe the oversize cast bullet is straighter to engage that long jump to the .327 Federal chamber's throat?

If it works then I usually don't care why. :)
