much better to load HP mags to 12 rounds if one is in the chamber. The idea is the design is for 12 rounds pressure on the underside of the slide upon firing as the 13th is already chambered. Designed to that spec. so to speak.
It may be some old wives tale but I figure you had heard of it.
I use MecGar 15 round mags so I'm already out of the picture. I usually go 14+1.
