For all the Misfits with medical credentials

I was watching vids on the news of folks spraying down the school rooms with disinfectant in preparation of the kids going back. As I was watching them spray every object, wall, nook and cranny I was reminded of Imus in the Morning, and his wife's involvement with organizations that were drawing correlations between disinfectants and child autism. If there is a causal relationship then we may be setting our kids up for medical issues. What are your thoughts? Is this a cause for concern or has this suspected relationship been disproved?

and you expect an answer from us?

Amid needs a little dirt. Immunities are accumulated

A little at a time by exposure. If you are too sanitized your immune system will eventually degrade THEN you will give it a true challenge. A mud pie now and again will do them good. Spit on it and rub with dirt, it will heal over.

ATTRIBUTE IT TO GROWING UP WE WERE ALLOWED TO GATHER AND GROW NATURAL IMMUNITY AND THEN SPENDING 31 YEARS WITH JR HIGH KIDS EVERY DAY EXPOSED TO ABOUT EVERYTHING. OVER SANITIZING DESTROYS OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM.

I had a few sick days in high school. Most could

going to all of a sudden become autistic? Seems silly to even consider it.

Complicated topic

Since the industrial revolution, but especially since the boom in the plastics industry, there have been so many chemicals floating around in the environment it has become nearly impossible to study any one in an isolated, human system. This is why the dangers of each are largely based on imperfect animal models.

Autism is multifactorial and sets in well before school age, so no there's no concern disinfectant sprays could cause Autism. Other long term effects like cancer, respiratory issues, or cognitive issues: there's no known link, but that's subject so change I'm sure.

Another thing: let's pretend you can be certain a chemical isn't harmful to a person. You still don't know how that chemical will react with other chemicals in the environment and what their interaction will generate. That's a common concern with Ozone generators. So will the disinfectant used interact with the glue in some textbook's binding and release something undesirable? I think it's clear to see how complicated the topic becomes. VERY hard to study, environmental exposures.

Well said PJ, running a lab I can only tell what it's not.
