Beside Texas City Wikipedia has 24 listed many in the US
The big bubble is the blast wave compressing the air in front of it-- the moisture becoming visible for a few moments---- despite Hollywood blast waves can be basically solid--- so they do not just roll you around
As to the nuc Idea... many explosions can make a mushroom cloud plus no flash--no radiation--etc

Oklahoma City is a prime example.

The Texas City ammonium nitrate explosion in 1947 is the deadliest industrial accident in U.S. history. 2,300 tons of ammonium nitrate on a ship at the dock exploded and killed over 400 people, injured more than 5,000 and destroyed over a thousand buildings. Windows were shattered in Galveston 10 miles away and the ship's anchor which weighed two tons was blown over a mile away.

At Oppau, Germany in 1921, over 4,000 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded. It killed more than 500 people. The noise of the explosion was heard more than 200 miles away.

I've been reading about those left homeless in Lebanon...

No telling how many buildings have structural damage that isn't known yet.

Surprised the Liberals haven't accused Trump of collusion since it came off a Russian Tanker.

There are over a half million children there

who were suffering from lack of food before all this took place. And lest anyone should try to write this disaster off as "muslims" .. the population in Beirut is at least 49% Christian ... not that any of that should matter when it comes to people who are suffering and need help.

OOPS .. should read "40% Christians" ...

Who's getting the benefit shouldn't matter. The only time I shut down giving is when a middle man takes a cut. That's a deal breaker for me.
