I too bought some cowboy bullets for .45 Colt. Cast Performance 250 gr RNFP. I tried several powders and velocities under 900 fps. Everything leaded horribly. Finally tried Trail Boss @650 fps and they shoot fine.
Another thing I wonder about is the clear lube that the bullets were coated in. Very thin and clean but I really wonder if it’s enough to do anything.
You may find something different.
