Handgun would be either my 45 Colt Redhawk or 41 Mag contender. Rifle would be Winchester 30/30 or Remington 141 35 Rem.
For grizz I think a heavily stoked 45/70, with the 45 Redhawk with heavy loads or 475 Lb.

Gary has done custom work on several 44 lever guns for me and friends. All have worked great! 240 gn hp bullets work every time. His rifles have been used on alot of huge bear.
A friend has 3 rossi 92 there now.
We hoping to have back by September 17 opening day.
I thought you use a knife and bare knuckles!

I guess I would go 44mag for east of the Mississippi....maybe 7-08 for a rifle. West....475/480 in a revolver and maybe a .270 rifle?? Enjoy reading the comments and advice. One day I hope to take a bear hunt....just not sure where yet.....
I can highly recommend alberta or sask.

When I encountered my 1st big coastal Kodiak I looked down at my Colt Anaconda and felt severely under gunned with a .44 magnum. Since then I have had Gary upgrade a Redhawk in .44 magnum which is the back up to the Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70.
No flies on on the Anaconda....

You probably couldn't destroy either one....why did you feel the need to switch to the Redhawk??

Alaska for just about everything including Griz or big Brownies. I would most likely use the same thing for Black bear. For the former I would use the 350 grain Cast Performance bullet (I still have a bunch of them) and (I think it is) Montana Bullet Works or someone else that makes the .510 350 grain jacketed bullet for Black Bear. Since I have not tried them I have no opinion of there performance so I will stick to 350 grain CPB for now.
410 GNR or 510 GNR
