So who is manufacturing 1911's today?
I think everyone on this list is. Who have I missed or made a mistake about?

Armscor
Auto Ordinance
Colt
Dan Wesson
Ithaca
Kimber
Para Ordinance
Reeder Custom Guns
Remington
Ruger
Sig Sauer
Smith & Wesson
Springfield Armory
Standard Manufacturing
Taurus
Tisas

STI has a single stack 2011 that uses 1911 mags, barrels,

I've been thinking about one of those Commander slides on an officer's frame deals, CCO is what they call it I believe, I haven't handled one myself but a guy I work with loves his.

STI is no more.

The company was bought and is now called STACCATO.

On May 26, 2020, STI Firearms announced that the company will begin operating as Staccato, effective immediately.

Ed Brown, Les Baer and Nighthawk. Price points sure take a big jump though.

What I am trying to distinguish is

those who use their own frames and those who use other manufacturers frames.

For instance, Gary uses his own frames. I am not sure about STI etc.

So thinking about it.. that's pretty hard to do ..

Les Bauer apparently make their own frames and slides. Other manufacturers have companies that make their frames and slides for them. And they are top-end guns. So I guess the only way to distinguish would be list those whose guns are made by someone else, but who put their own name on the gun.

Not that doing so cheapens them in any way. I was just wondering how many companies are making the old out-dated and useless 1911.

There are an awful lot of people selling them.

Cz manufactures the 1911. In fact they now own Dan Wesson. I think Remington now owns para ordinance.

Personally I own (3). Plan on keeping them too.

Custom Kase Reeder hybrid Military/Essex, SIG first run w/rail, both in.45 ACP. Then more late, the AMT 5” Javelina in 10mm. I’ve always wanted a commander in .38 Super or 9mm.

Was that a hint? I seem to have been

To out and out not favor the 1911. Sacrilege! lol

I DO like the 1911 but I'm not jaded to say it's the end of all semi-auto designs. It's fantastic but some made today are more simple, efficient, reliable, and accurate.

Rock RIVER makes a fine one
