Les Bauer apparently make their own frames and slides. Other manufacturers have companies that make their frames and slides for them. And they are top-end guns. So I guess the only way to distinguish would be list those whose guns are made by someone else, but who put their own name on the gun.

Not that doing so cheapens them in any way. I was just wondering how many companies are making the old out-dated and useless 1911.

There are an awful lot of people selling them.
