The main justification is to "have it your way". There may be some features others are not as keen on for their personal tastes. Therefore accounting for their considerable expense and unique character they may be slower to move than a cheap mass produced rig. Don't be disheartened.
A huge benefit that will eventually be realized is some added value for likely discount from a new build, is also the immediate gratification of no waiting. Depending on parts and where your work is in the long line line of waiting for individual personal attention it can be considerable. With another custom Smith' I once waited 2 years for some work done! Not complaining I knew it could be long going in. Gary has NEVER, ever, let me go that long on anything, ever, FWIW.
Customs can sometimes be a little slower to move but they will never lose total value, ever.
