that was the rifle we were issued. I learned to love and hate it. Try running around a grinder sometime with the rifle held above your head chanting some ridiculous thing like "I will never call my company commander an asshole again as long as I live, which may not be long!" LOL that taught me to never say what I was thinking, the CC was clairvoyant. (a grinder is an asphalt covered square 1000 yards on a side where all of the boot company's at recruit training command RTC would practice marching, the manual under arms and other diabolical tortures devised by senior NCOs that were in charge of training) On the other hand, I have never had a rifle like that one that could reach out and touch someone over 1000 yards away with as issued sights, ammo, stock and sling. Now, all I can do is set back and watch someone else shoot it. That 30-06 butt stock will do a number on your shoulder joints. The M4 or some of the other "new" caliber assault rifles can not compare with the greatest assault rifle of them all.... JMHO and that an $5 might get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.
