the Ruger .30 cal. (.30 carbine) are some screwy 16.5:1 and manage bullets up to 115 gr. well. Even then that's plenty.
A favorite bullet in the .300 GNR revovler is the 90 gr. or 100 gr. Hornady XTP sized to suit. The 110 gr. Speer varminter is fantastic too if you can find them. I have resorted to making my own to suit, with a focus on 100-125 gr. FNGC and HP for the .327 Federal and .300 GNR. I have shot some 60 gr. JHP XTP's at crazy velocities!
