I know it's a bit of a pipe dream but why has the .45 ACP or a bit longer case not been necked (tapered really) to .429" to be able to shoot .44 bullets? A semi-auto .44 Special for those who just want a .44, but in a 1911 platform? Sort of a .44 AMP short?

I know there were some done in .40 and .41 cal. But what about .44 fanciers?

It's a mostly a harmless pastime, unless you have a machine shop and gun store outlet. Then things could really get out of hand.
