so night sights on a gun will last about 20 years before they are mostly day sights. After 12.3 years you will notice a definite decrease in the glow (like half as much...LOL) so if you don't mind replacing them every 20 years or so they are ok at night with one exception. Once you fire the first round, your night vision is gone, even if you close one eye, you will not see the glow quite as much. The advantage is, there is still a glow for front sight acquisition for a follow up shot, where standard sights may not stand out quite as much. It all depends upon your eyes and your preferences. Personally I have both types of sights on my defensive handguns and really have no driving preference. Just my opinion.
