Looking at the post below,.. I just can sleep on the ground anymore. I could if I needed to, but given my druthers I've just a soon elevate myself.
I've camped all over in a camping hammock and love it.

Even if it's just nylon sheeting I like about 3' in every direction for some booger to pounce.
LOL. It's not much different than a bear burrito

Little more than 2 lbs packed up. One of my favorite bits camping gear. Had the same one for around 15 years... I think.. its been awhile.
I have to do something different

Right now I am getting ready for Massachusetts black bear season. Tomorrow in the AM I will sit in my stand with a scent burn and hope my Gary Reeder refurbished Redhawk Hunter will strike the primer, so to speak.
I spent three days on the cold hard ground. It was not fun. I have that nice kifaru tipi but I am seriously thinking of selling it as my back is still buggered up.
I slept on two Z rest pads and then a cheapo Walmart blow up mattress. Better but the Z rest wasn't enough.
I have to look into the hammock method. I really love the outdoors and have a thirst for the wild as a drunk for whiskey but I do have some lower back issues now. Doctor said I have a bit of arthritis in my lower back and have had sciatica.
So I am thinking a well made hammock with both under quilt , over quilt and a large silinylon tarp covering the whole shebang would be the way to go.
You can do the research, but the Hennessy is the best.

The customer service is good. They are a little pricey, but I haven't regretted buying any of mine. Do some research on cold weather hammock camping. There's a few ways to go about it. If you're not prepared for that you'll freeze your back side off. I've done a lot of camping on the motorcycle up and down the bottom half of the east coast and the Hammock was perfect for me. Now that my boy is in cub scouts its paid off even more. Also,.. I have used it on the ground several times. I hitched one end to the bike and the other to what ever or even just a peg in the ground. However, you'll never keep water out from under you with this setup on the ground. In dry weather its not an issue. So,.. just research it.
Mmmmm Tacos!
