and really relate to. I guess it's just a passing of the torch, I'm getting old too. You have to feel out these new gun writers in our new world and media outlets. Some are basically advertising agents, or maybe just gullible enough to gobble any new gimmick as the latest and greatest.

I used to subscribe to a couple motorcycle magazines, since I was about 8-10 yrs. old through just a few years ago. they are all now gone! Some combined with others then dropped to quarterly, and literally are not worth reading much less spending $8 an issue to own. I sincerely hope Gun rags do not follow suit. How I miss the old Petersen Publishing! Bob had it going on with some real manly guys.

"Running my hand over the surface of the slide, no sharp edges were found, giving the pistol that feel of a used bar of soap" - That's GREAT! Used bar of soap! lol I know exactly what he means.

"width is just a fuzz over one inch" - Oddly enough I know exactly how much "a fuzz" is as a unit of measurement.

"placed exactly where God intended it to be" - How descriptive of ergonomics! It convinces you they got it right, not to worry.

Yes, Jeff had a great down to earth style that I indeed will miss.

The Digital era has taken over for the majority

and Mr. Quinn had adapted to it quite well. His format would be one to follow if one was to undertake such a thing. It's hard with all the young ones and everyone being able to post a "review", almost all that I have seen just googling are very short and not so to the point. If you are learn-ed to these things you can almost feel the manufacturers pamphlet in your hand reading them. No soul, no character and always glowing.

Another Youtube personality I find many like

is Hickok 45. It's to a person's own discretion, but I admit after watching him quite a bit, I like him. Someone told me he was a former Teacher (not sure if that is true). But I do like his style of presentation without bias. He manages this while still having his own preferences. That in itself is a admirable feat. Boy howdy can that guy shoot too!

He's kind of goofy and campy, but I personally find him a likeable fellow without a need of undue self promotion.

He is very honest and one of the very few who will...

MY FAVORITE PENNED WORDS CAME FROM

In 1966 my friend the late John Lachuk wrote these words: “If I had my druthers, I’d take this handy lever-gun and my 44 Maggie and head for the backcountry!” He was talking about the newly introduced Marlin 336T chambered in .44 Magnum. He went on to say: “One-caliber rifle-pistol duos are a Western tradition, handed down from the days when ammo counters were few and far between.” Little did I know that I would not only meet John in the future but also become good friends. This line certainly fed my imagination and I read it just before I packed up our three pre-school age kids, hooked a U-Haul to the back of our 1965 Ford Station Wagon and Diamond Dot and I headed for Idaho. Shortly after arriving here I put feet to John’s words and purchased my own Marlin .44 Magnum so I can definitely say just as John Lachuk’s words if I had my choice I just as soon grab my .44 Magnum Marlin and a good .44 sixgun and head for the mountains which is exactly what I did for many years before the mountains became too steep.

He has an engaging style and he works on bikes that someone else has used up and pretty much tossed to the junk heap. His wife runs the camera and they have some humorous exchanges. They're fun to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1ddFwEkn3E

Thanks Ray! That is a thankless endeavor 4 sure..
