Stand for the flag

My wife’s grandfather was a WWII veteran. He didn’t talk much about it. He was also an active member of his local VFW and I was honored to accompany him on a couple of occasions to have a beer with the boys.

At his funeral, the VFW showed up to pay their respects and honor him. One old fella was in a wheel chair had his 2 grandson’s with him. They came to help him stand for the flag. No one would have thought poorly of an old man in a wheelchair not standing. But it mattered to him! Enough that he made arrangements for help! He didn’t want to take any chances.

Cut from a different cloth.

That's why they are called "The Great Generation"
