Last night I loaded (50) rnds. .50 BMG
It took over 11,000 grs. of slow powder, 35,000 grs. of FMJ bullets, and about 1-1/2 hrs., taking my time.
The case lubing is quite intensive. I'm not risking that hairspray frying pan lube. I'm using about 5-6 big drops and slathering it all over the case. It takes me standing up to run the press. I'm not sure what these were fired out of but the brass is expanded and roughed up some. It necessitates FL sizing, reaming the primer pockets, and chamfering the case mouths. Rounds fired from my gun are much easier. I really didn't take the time to trim these but I might later. It's interesting, I've had a bottle of lube for 20 yrs. and now I ran it dry. The thought of sticking a case has me err on caution.
I wore out my hands trying to ream so I finally got smart and chucked it in my lathe. Once done the pockets are good to go. The primers are $0.40 each! I load a little lighter load, why hot it up too much?! It truly is like an upscale .30-06. My loading density is around 80-85%.
This is not something very fun to shoot all day. It's not the recoil, but the concussion and blast. That wears me out. I have a SERBU and Grizzly available for those wanting to compare. We like the SERBU much better. Weighing about 30% less (about 21 lbs.) it also recoils less and the brake, while much smaller, diverts blast better too.
I got sucked into all this wanting to be a cool Dad. I figure I have lived up to that, but amoung a very small group. LOL
